True-Portable DAC/Amp with Class A Amplification
Sale price$529

Description

The iFi iDSD GR 2 is a true-portable DAC and headphone amplifier designed for high-performance listening at home or on the move. It combines a Burr-Brown PCM1795 DAC, fully balanced Class A amplification, powerful headphone outputs, Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX Lossless, digital and analogue inputs, and battery operation in a compact chassis.

The GR 2 supports PCM up to 768kHz and DSD512, while its balanced 4.4mm headphone output delivers up to 1,513mW RMS at 32 ohms. Upgraded iEMatch circuitry helps accommodate sensitive earphones, giving the GR 2 flexibility across a broad range of headphones and IEMs.

Wireless listening is handled by Bluetooth 5.4 with support for aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, LDAC, LHDC/HWA, aptX, AAC, and SBC. Wired sources can connect through USB-C or optical/coaxial S/PDIF, while balanced 4.4mm and single-ended 3.5mm analogue inputs allow the GR 2 to operate as an analogue headphone amplifier as well as a DAC/amp.

iFi iDSD GR 2 Portable DAC Headphone Amplifier

The GR 2 also incorporates JVCKENWOOD's K2HD technology, designed to restore harmonic information lost during digital recording and processing. A selectable K2 mode provides similar enhancement without upsampling.

A capacitive colour OLED touchscreen provides direct access to core settings, while iFi Nexis compatibility extends control and firmware-update functionality through the app. For desktop listening, hybrid power mode prioritizes external USB-C power and draws from the internal battery when additional power is required.

With a 4,900mAh lithium-polymer battery providing approximately seven hours of operation, the iDSD GR 2 combines portable convenience with the connectivity and amplification capability needed to serve as part of a desktop headphone system.

Burr-Brown PCM1795 DAC

The GR 2 is iFi's first DAC to use the Burr-Brown PCM1795 current-output chipset. It supports PCM up to 768kHz and DSD512 and gives iFi greater flexibility in the design of the accompanying analogue output stage.

Fully Balanced Class A Amplification

The analogue stage uses Class A op-amps and a fully balanced signal path. The balanced headphone output delivers up to 1,513mW RMS at 32 ohms, while upgraded iEMatch circuitry helps accommodate sensitive headphones and IEMs.

Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX Lossless

Bluetooth 5.4 provides wireless playback with aptX Lossless for compatible devices, along with aptX Adaptive, LDAC, LHDC/HWA, aptX, AAC, and SBC. aptX Lossless supports CD-quality 44.1kHz/16-bit wireless playback when used with a compatible source and suitable connection conditions.

K2HD Technology

Developed by JVCKENWOOD, K2HD is designed to restore harmonic information lost during the digital recording process. The GR 2 also provides a K2 mode that offers enhancement without upsampling, allowing listeners to choose whether to use the processing according to the recording and their preferences.

Portable & Desktop Operation

The internal 4,900mAh battery provides approximately seven hours of portable operation. When external USB-C power is connected, hybrid power mode prioritizes the external supply and draws from the battery when additional power is required.
