Description
The Chord Electronics Symphonic is Chord's flagship Moving Coil (MC) phono stage, designed for high-performance turntables and reference-quality vinyl systems. Part of the Choral range, Symphonic combines extensive cartridge-matching flexibility with fully balanced circuitry, precision RIAA equalization, and Chord's high-frequency power supply technology.
With selectable impedance, a wide 40 dB to 80 dB gain range, and both balanced and unbalanced connectivity, Symphonic can be precisely configured for a wide variety of high-performance Moving Coil cartridges and audio systems.
Precision MC Cartridge Matching
Symphonic provides selectable 4.7Ω, 33Ω, and 100Ω input impedance settings along with adjustable gain from 40 dB to 80 dB, allowing careful matching to MC cartridges with different output levels and electrical characteristics.
Settings are externally selectable for convenient system setup, with internal illuminated LEDs providing visual confirmation of the selected configuration.
Fully Balanced Analog Design
Symphonic offers both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs and outputs, providing flexible integration with high-end turntables, preamplifiers, and audio systems. Balanced operation is available when supported by the turntable's tonearm wiring.
Precision RIAA equalization provides ±0.1 dB accuracy, while a switchable Rausch-slope rumble filter helps reduce unwanted low-frequency energy below 50 Hz. With the filter switched off, Symphonic follows the RIAA curve without IEC roll-off; switching the filter on adds the IEC response.
