Description

The Cayin Soul 170I KT170 Tube Integrated Amplifier combines the musical character of premium tube amplification with exceptional power, flexibility, and craftsmanship. Designed around four Tung-Sol KT170 output tubes in a Class AB push-pull configuration, the Soul 170I delivers an impressive 130 watts per channel in Ultralinear mode or 75 watts per channel in Triode mode.

With two selectable operating modes, the Soul 170I allows you to tailor its presentation to your music and system. Triode mode delivers a smoother, richer, and more intimate presentation that is particularly engaging with vocals and acoustic instruments. Ultralinear mode provides greater power, extension, dynamics, and loudspeaker control ideal for music that demands scale and impact.

The all-tube design features a 22DE4 tube rectifier, two ECC83S voltage-amplification tubes, two 6SN7 driver tubes, and four KT170 output tubes. Cayin employs traditional point-to-point wiring, with the circuitry and signal path hand-wired using heavy-gauge cable.

At the heart of the Soul 170I are Cayin's custom-designed, in-house-wound wide-bandwidth EI output transformers, complemented by a custom toroidal power transformer engineered for strong power delivery and low noise. Premium components include an ALPS volume control, porcelain tube sockets, audio-grade capacitors, and carbon-film resistors.

Connectivity includes three stereo RCA line inputs, one balanced XLR input, and a Pre-In connection. The Pre-In allows the Soul 170I to be paired with an external preamplifier and used as a power amplifier. A dedicated subwoofer output provides additional flexibility for systems incorporating powered subwoofers.

Separate 4-ohm and 8-ohm speaker outputs accommodate a wide range of loudspeakers. Individual KT170 bias adjustment controls and a convenient top-mounted bias meter make monitoring and adjusting the output tubes straightforward.

Soft-start circuitry, a high-voltage delay, and dedicated high-voltage protection fuses help protect the amplifier and its tubes, while the included remote control provides convenient everyday operation.

With its substantial power, selectable Triode and Ultralinear modes, premium tube complement, custom transformers, and meticulous point-to-point construction, the Cayin Soul 170I is designed to serve as the centerpiece of a reference-quality two-channel audio system.
